About Us

The name, Bryntawel, is Welsh and means, ‘quiet hills’.  We have lived on the outskirts of Laidley in Queensland for several years and really love the country atmosphere.  We breed Welsh Ponies Section B and Cleveland Bay Sporthorses.

The Cleveland Bay, sometimes called the English Warmblood, is listed on the Rare Breeds Register. We have one Purebred stallion and two purebred mares, as well as several partbred Cleveland Bay mares.  There are very few purebreds in Australia although the Cleveland Bay Horse Society of Australia is encouraging breeders  to produce more purebreds to maintain the breed’s survival. The Cleveland Bays are exhibited at Laidley Show and Brisbane Royal. Several of our horses have gone overseas to establish harness careers, the latest team competing at the World Equestrian Games with International competitor, Bob Edwards.

The Welsh Ponies are descended from top bloodlines and our broodmare band is infused with many progeny by sons of Sir Percy of Paxhall(GB).  For the last four years, we have been showing the Welsh ponies with success at many Breed and Agricultural shows, in breed and buckskin classes in the south east of the State.  This year we have some of the younger ponies coming through under saddle and soon , in harness.  We have some lovely progeny for the future and we look forward to the years ahead as our ponies continue to perform in and out of the showring.
